365 Days of Rambling (feat. Q&A)

So. . .

It’s happened. . .

365 days of rambling.

Or rather 368 days since I’m posting this three days after the actual date.
. . . Although really it’s only 44 days since that’s how many times I posted over the past twelve months. But that doesn’t sound quite as impressive as 368. 😛

Anywho, that’s enough math lessons. Welcome to year 1 of Inky RambleBeast! Like the new look? I wanted to give my blog a more individual feel to it, instead of a random wolf face with photoshopped green eyes.

Also, yes, that is — indeed — my face. Contrary to popular belief, it is not covered in fur. I know, I’m disappointed too. But it’s okay! (If you’re reading this on a mobile device, just take my word for it. 😉 )

I mean, let’s face it (pun unintended), I could have chosen this one:

This is my face being a
shameless weirdo

So. . . it all evens out in the end.

Let’s move on; I’m getting more and more freaked out the longer I stare at this monstrosity (not self-condemning).

I would also like to point out that when I scroll to the top of the draft page, it looks like my face is peeking over a counter.

Screenshot of draft page; weirdo face is at the bottom half obscured
Zoomed in, enhanced.

"Hi!!!!!!"

It’s like a human embodiment of a cat. Or a dog. Depends on how you look at it.

All right, that’s enough. X’D

Okay, so I actually have no idea how I’m going to celebrate the blogiversary besides a Q&A, so at this point we are completely winging it. Let’s see where this goes. . .

I’m looking back on some of the responses I got from the form thingy I sent out last week asking how I should celebrate, and at least three of you said that I should eat cake.

As much as I wish I did, I don’t have an IRL cake or the stuff (and the skills 😛 ) to bake one. So we’re just going to find a photo of a cake real quick. . .
*opens a couple stock photo websites*

. . .

*rushes back in*
GUYS. LOOK WHAT I FOUND.

This is the most GORGEOUS thing I’ve seen all day; my eyes are blessed. Thank you, Alina Karpenko on Unsplash! I’ll take it.

*pounces on cake*
*completely obliterates the cake*

Oh, did you want some too? Sorry about that. . . . . .

Oh wait, this is the internet, isn’t it?

*your favorite flavor cake (or party food if you’re not into cake) appears in front of you at the wave of a paw*

There we go! I promise to be more careful next time, hahah.

Got a fork and a napkin? Great! Let’s move on to the sentimental speech. Because every celebration needs a sentimental speech. 😛

Except I don’t really know where to start. Oddly enough, even though I’ve been doing this for a full year, I feel like nothing much has happened. I feel like I’ve learned next to nothing since I started, like I haven’t grown that much as a blogger or artist and I’m still in the same place I was before. I feel like I should know what I’m doing by now, but I still have no idea. This blog still seems as aimless and arbitrary as when I started it.

I suppose I should accept it, but I just wish it had more of a general direction. What is this blog? Is it an art blog? A writing blog? A lifestyle blog?

All I know right now is that it’s a “me” blog. I have poured my heart into its making, writing and refining. So maybe what I ought to be asking myself is. . . “Who am I?” Am I an artist? Writer? Musician? Videographer? What direction do I want to take my life? How am I supposed to thrive in the creative world if I can’t even figure out what kind of creative I am?

I suppose there’s some good in being a jack-of-all-trades since it’s how God made me. If it wasn’t a benefit to me or to somebody somewhere in some point in time, then He wouldn’t have made me this way.

So really, the proper answer to the question, “Who am I” should be, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” If God made me to have a large pallete of interests, then clearly He loves me that way, and He has some form of plan for it, even if it’s unclear to me right now. He knows what He’s doing, so the least I can do is trust Him.

And one day — who knows how far off that day might be — I’ll look back on my life and I’ll say, “God, look at how You have used my skills to bless people around me. You are incredible; surely Your plans for me and for every follower are set in stone.”

Knowing that God loves me, and that He made me the way I am for a reason, makes me start to accept myself. He has a reason for every ounce of my character, and the setting and time period in which He is authoring me.

So who am I? Am I an artist? A writer? A musician? A gamer? A bookworm? A videographer?

Yes. I am all of those. Why? Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

I am Joy Dekreel, and I am a child of God; the King; the Author of the universe and of the people who fill it; the Artist who paints the skies and designs the eyes and hands and every strand of hair on the head of every creature — present, past and future — that walks this earth.

I am because He is.

So what is this blog? What is Inky RambleBeast? It’s a gift from God. It’s His intricate handiwork manifesting in my writing. And my hope for the coming months is to use it — despite my imperfection — to worship the Creator for everything that He’s done for me, and to encourage its readers to do the same.

For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.

And God saw everything that he had made,
and behold, it was very good.

To wrap up this post, I have another surprise for you. It’s one that I’ve been planning for at least a month now, and I’m really excited to get to share it with you guys. And before you ask, “What about the Q&A?” don’t worry — it’s coming. 😉

A’ight, y’all ready?

  1. Wow, this post is fantastic!
And that cake. My mouth started watering. A lot.
Do cakes like that even exist?!?! It looks so… perfect. XD
“What is your favorite genre to write in? Blogging.” Haha, perfect answer.
Great advice about being yourself for blogging. That is something I love about your blog is how unique and interesting and creative it is. 😀
Oooh. I would love to see a CD binder poetry post! (And a Story Embers for artists. That would be amazing. *sniffs* we can dream, right? *sighs*)
I’ve eaten frog legs as well and yes they were weird and strange. The pieces were squirmy, squishy chicken/fish tasting. *nods* It was weird.
    Great post! And happy blogversery!
(Also what was with the question about how long you’ve been blogging?? Um. Did that person even see the title of your posts and why you were looking for questions? xDxD)

    1. Thank ya!!
SAME THOUGH. I need this cake in my life.
Yeah, I’ve always loved blogs whose authors’ personalities came across clearly. Glad to hear I’m doing okay at it. XD
I WILL do it eventually! Maybe we should do a collab or something since you introduced the book binder idea. 😉 (We seriously need one though.)
I remember liking the taste, but not being a huge fan of the slimy-ish texture. Still, I’d have it again.
I know. X’D I don’t blame them for asking that question though. We’ve all had those scatterbrained moments at some point, am I right?
      Thanks again! ^.^

  2. I love the new look, especially the new header that you created. Great work!
I smiled through the whole post. I can tell you had fun doing it, and I had fun reading it.
You are an amazing mix – God created you uniquely special, and you WILL have an impact of blessing on the lives of many!! Keep on keeping on – being YOU!
I loved the video of Details by Sarah Reeves. As an artist, I love watching how others create art and going with the song was a special connection.
The special surprise was fun. You made me laugh!

Joy, I’m so proud of you.
It’s been a joy to follow your blog this year.
I look forward to seeing how God opens new doors for you, and how you grow in your reflection of HIM.

  3. Oh wow!! You don’t look/sound like I was picturing! I was still picturing you looking like Peregrine!! 😂 OH MY WORD…. The Noah’s ark question…. was mine. 😆🤣😂😁 The wonderful Mr. Keylook (my dad) gave me the idea. LIRL. I hope you liked my idea for your celebration. 😄 I can’t even remember it. 🤣 Ha, don’t worry about your video setup. My dad records the church messages every week, and his set up it his phone with a small microphone attached, on top of a three tier stand, sitting on a hymnal and balanced by a speaker. 😅 Nicely done!

  4. Congratulations Peri! My own Blogversary is actually coming up soon. What should I plan…
Anyway, yes, that mansion in the Wingfeather Saga was definitely creepy. Wonderful vid! And sweet banner. I like the new yellow and green colors!

  5. Such a fun post!!! The new banner is amazing!!!

I can’t wait to watch the vlog!

P.S. I know this sounds ridiculous…but…my brain literally thought of you as the chipmunk/squirrel in your profile pic. XD Even though I knew you were a human. My mind is still trying to wrap around the idea that you’re actually a girl, not a squirrel.

…I think I’ve been watching too many Disney movies. XD

  6. Happy blog anniversary!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 I have loved your blog so much from the moment I found it, and it couldn't be better. <3 <3 That cake looks HEAVENLY. *melts* Also, I love the vlog. 😀
