Breaking the Distance // Updates + Rambling

I’m bored. And stir crazy. Even if I don’t catch the virus, I think I’m coming down with a serious case of cabin fever. So to help combat it, here’s a blog post. It will mostly be life updates plus whatever else these fingers decide to punch into my computer.

Crafter of the Mine Kind

It was a quiet Christmas morning for a certain girl and her family in the southern United States. They were unwrapping presents and enjoying each other’s company in general — nothing out of the ordinary, really.

But after no more parcels remained under the stout fir — and ribbons and bits of paper littered the floor — the father, with a mischievous look on his usually placid visage, rose from his chair and approached his daughter. “One last gift,” he said, and he pulled out of his pocket an object of otherworldly material about the width of a Saltine cracker. “I’m sure you know how it works.”

Blowing away the dust

Okay, this place accumulated way more dust than it should have. πŸ˜› So after a month of silence I think it’s time that I (attempt to) resurrect this blog. I guess I could do a tag, but I’ve done a lot of them recently so I kind of want to hold back for another post or two.

I hate it when I can’t think of anything to write about besides tags. Don’t get me wrong — you guys have given me (and shown me) some really cool ideas, but I don’t have the confidence to do them myself yet.

Pastries, Coffee, and Improvision

Welp, it’s Friday night. The deadline is approaching fast, and I have nothing to show for it in the morning. So today, I’m going to improvise. I have no clue where this post will take me. It might end up getting philosophical, serious, silly, all of the above. . . who knows.

So where do I start?

That’s the trouble with having no clear plan. . . you don’t know how you’re going to approach it.

Basically… I’m Running Out of Ideas

Looking back on all my previous posts, it’s clear that I have had a lot of fun talking about things and interacting with friends and fellow bloggers. But it’s also clear that. . .

I had no idea what I was doing.

And I still have no idea what I’m doing.

Book Binder Poetry {Dekreel Edition}

I’ve always been a big fan of poetry and beautiful prose in general, and Evelyn’s blog post on what she calls “book binder” poetry is a great example of raw literary aesthetic. I knew immediately that I wanted to follow suit (besides, it looked like SO MUCH FUN.) So I stole drew inspiration from her idea, grabbed a couple armfuls of books from various shelves and tried my hand at composing book binder poetry of my own.

If y’all haven’t read her post on this unique genre of poetry, I highly suggest checking it out. She’s an amazing poet and she did a wonderful job. πŸ™‚

Let’s get started! *rubs paws*
